After Delhi ,Gujarat government on 17th September 2020 announced subsidies for electric vehicles. Govt. is aiming to improve the adoption of electric vehicles in the state and the announcement was made on the occasion to mark 11 years of the state's climate change department. The announcement of new policy was made in the presence of Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani.

Key Announcements.
- School and college students ie; students above 9th standard will be entitled to a benefit of Rs 12,000 if they opt for an electric vehicle.
- For an Auto rickshaw driver or any self employed person buys an electric three wheeler, he/she will receive a subsidy of up to Rs 48,000.
- Ten charging stations will be set up in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot.
According to reports, Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani has set an objective to have at least 10,000 electric two wheelers and 5,000 e-rickshaws on the roads of the Gujarat by the end of current Fiscal year. So this benefits announced will be limited to 10,000 electric two wheelers and 5,000 e-rickshaws.
Gujarat government drafted their EV Policy in 2019, which is yet to be adopted by the state entirely. As per the drafted EV Policy, govt. aims to 1 lakh EVs on Gujarat road by 2022. CM Vijay Rupani has also announced an investment of Rs 50 lakh for installing charging infrastructure in the state. Not only this but close to Rs 800 crore is reportedly being invested to incentivize the adoption of EVs in the state.
In current EV Scenario in India, More and more states are drafting new EV policies that will benefit the EV user and also pushes for the faster adoption of EVs in India.
